Governance Team Researching public authority in changing environments
Governance Team
Governance Team members work in collaboration with scholars and institutional partners in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe on issues of public authority and state capacity, security and peace-building. We aspire as a Team to produce cutting edge, policy oriented research on governance seen as multi-level and networked, operating at transnational, national and local levels. Our research revolves around core themes of:
- Public authority and state capacity
- Collective action and social accountability
- Conflict management, security and peace-building
- Political and fiscal challenges of extractive economies
- Global governance
- Developing and teaching research methodologies relating to governance

ANNOUNCEMENT
Small Grants Initiative The Global Consortium on Security Transformation (GCST) is looking for individuals who wish to stimulate creative thinking on the subjects of security and justice through a small grant.
The funds are open to researchers and policy activists from developing countries who want to make written contributions on the transformation of the security and justice sectors. Grant winners will be awarded US$7,000 (Doctoral Degree holders), US$5,000 (Master's Degree) or US$3,000 (Degree). US$1,000 will be provided for field research upon granting the funds, and the remaining will be provided after submission of a research report and a working paper. The research must be completed in no more than 10 months (May 17th, 2010 - March 17th, 2011). Upon completion of their research, grant recipients are expected to submit 1 research report detailing all the activities undertaken as well as 1 working paper on their research findings. The length of the working paper should be between 10,000 and 12,000 words. Best papers will be disseminated through the GCST webpage.
