Tackling the pressing environmental, social and economic challenges of our era will require increased international cooperation across countries, sectors and disciplines. Both the UN Global Goals and China’s multi-billion dollar BRI which spans over 70 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe offer potential frameworks for this cooperation. But where are the alignments between the BRI and Global Goals and what role can ‘Global Britain’ play in partnership with China and other BRI countries to ensure sustainable development outcomes?
Jointly hosted by the All Party Parliamentary China Group, the All Party Parliamentary Group on United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development and IDS, this meeting seeks to bring together policy makers with sustainable development and financial experts to consider the opportunities and challenges that the BRI provides both in terms of accelerating progress against the Global Goals and strengthening the UK’s global partnerships.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Dr Yu Jie, Research Fellow, Asia-Pacific Programme, Chatham House.
- Professor Melissa Leach, Director, Institute of Development Studies.
- Lord McConnell, Chair, All Party Parliamentary Group on United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development
- Jinny Yan, Managing Director, Chief China economist, ICBC Standard Bank, London.
