Enhancing the participation of LDCs in international trade: Informing the UN LDC5 agenda

In parallel to the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5), this roundtable discusses the importance of enhancing the participation of LDCs in Global Value Chains (GVCs). The roundtable is the seventh in the seminar series on inclusive trade, and builds on from the first seminar in the series.

The Doha Programme of Action of the United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries highlights the critical importance for LDCs getting the support they need. Enhancing international trade for LDCs will require practical and bold action. This roundtable discusses enhancing the participation of LDCs in GVCs through simple modifications to existing trade arrangements. It focuses on the role that a new ‘GVCs for LDCs’ scheme can play in advancing inclusive trade for LDCs.
