People with disabilities and their families are a large group but are often invisible and excluded from the public fora where policies are made and funding is allocated. There is a lack of both quantitative and qualitative research, especially of policy oriented and action oriented research led by people with disabilities (PWD).
The Cross-Cutting Disability Research Programme (CCDRP) responds to these research and policy gaps and aims to ensure that disability issues are mainstreamed across international development research in low- and middle-income countries.
This independent external review aimed to determine the extent to which the three year CCDRP in Nepal, India, Zambia, Uganda, and Kenya, funded by DFID, has met its expected impact, outcome and outputs. The review also explored the unintended effects of the research, and learning at system, organisational and individual levels.
This external evaluation used a mixed methodology. We combined methods and techniques from results oriented monitoring with those utilised in participatory monitoring evaluation.
